Design Features

Locks Automatically

Clam-shell closure locks automatically when two halves are snapped together and cannot disengage accidentally since all three latch pawls must be lifted simultaneously to disengage the latch.

Super Lightweight

The complete coupling system has been designed for a minimum weight. Only welded style flanges are available.

High Strength

Coupling design conforms to and has been qualified to all applicable military specification requirements for flexible fuel coupling systems for service at pressures of:
400 PSIG (operating) @ 300°F sizes -08 thru 14
200 PSIG (operating) @ 300°F size -16
125 PSIG (operating) @ 120°F -20 thru -64

Latch Pawl Design

The latch pawl design allows operation without damage to CBR gloves and allows operation while wearing artic gloves.

Safety Device

The safety device is provided to help prevent mis-installation. The safety device cannot be engaged unless the coupling has been completely closed.

Flexible

Axial adjustment is 1/4" nominal; angular misalignment is ±4° for full coupling.

Lightning

Protection is provided to at least 1500 amperes when tested in accordance with MIL-STD-1757 test method T03 using current component B waveshape.

Self Bonding

Electrical bonding to class "S" of MIL-B-5087B is automatically provided when the coupling is assembled.

1. Coupling flanges and seals are not furnished with these assemblies and, for clarity, are shown in phantom outline. Seal material is selected and seals are separately procured by user. For additional information see notes 1 & 2 under "Ordering Information".
2. The 21C02-(SIZE)A Clam-shell Assembly material is 2024-T851 aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized, dyed red. Latch pawls, hinges, rivets, latch springs: 300 series CRES, passivated. Bonding springs: beryllium copper wire, tin coated.
   The 21C02-(SIZE)C Clam-shell Assembly material is 300 series CRES, passivated. Latch pawls, hinges, rivets, latch springs: 300 series CRES, passivated. Bonding springs: beryllium copper wire, tin coated.
   The 21C02-(SIZE)T Clam-shell assembly material is commercially pure titanium, no finish. Latch pawls, hinges, rivets, latch springs: 300 series CRES, passivated. Bonding springs: beryllium copper wire, tin coated.
   
3. The 21R02-(SIZE)A Sleeve material is 2024-T851 aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized, dyed red.
   The 21R02-(SIZE)C Sleeve material is 300 series CRES, passivated.
   The 21R02-(SIZE)T Sleeve material is commercially pure or 6AL-4V titanium, no finish.
   
4. The coupling assembly has been qualified and meets the performance requirements of MIL-C-22263 and Lockheed 5PTA3148A.
5. Coupling assembly weights shown in table below do not include flanges and seals.
6. Also available in half coupling (swaged or welded body) configuration.
7. May also be used with high temperature seals and flanges. Please consult factory.
