Design Features

Self Locking

Threaded closure locks automatically when nut detent mechanism engages the detents along the face of the body. Assembly and disassembly are performed by hand without tools.

"Winged" Retainer

A "winged" retainer provides a tactile and a visual verification that the retainers have been properly installed.

Meets Military Requirements

Coupling design has been qualified to all applicable military specification requirements for flexible fuel coupling systems with service pressures of 230 PSIG (1.5 and 2.0 inch sizes) and temperatures from -65°F to 300°F (Other sizes are rated at 125 PSIG).

Self Bonding

Electrical bonding to class "S" of MIL-B-5087B is automatically provided when the coupling is assembled.

Flexible

Axial adjustment is 0.2" nominal; angular misalignment is ±4° for full coupling.

Coupling Flanges

The coupling flanges are mechanically attached (swaged or welded) to tube ends. Information about tooling and installation procedure is available from Hydraflow upon request.

Non-captive

The 18J02 coupling is non-captive; it can be installed over flanges or pump ends with machined-on flanges.

Product Notes

1. Coupling flanges and seals are not furnished with these assemblies and, for clarity, are shown in phantom outline. Seal material is selected and seals are separately procured by user. For additional information see notes 1 & 2 under "Ordering Information".
2. The 18J02 coupling may be installed on 18F02/18F03 flanges or 14F12 flanges with the appropriate reduction in pressure rating. (See 14J12 coupling information). Contact Hydraflow for high temperature flange installations.
3. The 18C02-(SIZE)A Body Assembly material is 2024-T851aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized, dyed magenta except bonding surfaces which are chemical conversion film coated. The detent spring is 300 series CRES, passivated.
   The 18C02-(SIZE)C Body Assembly material is 300 series CRES, passivated. The detent spring is 300 series CRES, passivated.
   
4. The 18N02-(SIZE)A Nut material is 2024-T851aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized, dyed magenta except bonding surfaces which are chemical conversion film coated.
   The 18N02-(SIZE)C Nut material is 300 series CRES, passivated.
   
5. The 18R02-(SIZE)A Retainer Assembly material is 2024-T851aluminum alloy or equivalent, anodized, dyed magenta except bonding surfaces which are chemical conversion film coated. The bonding spring is beryllium copper wire, tin coated.
   The 18R02-(SIZE)C Retainer Assembly material is 300 series CRES, passivated. The detent spring is 300 series CRES, passivated. The bonding spring is beryllium copper, tin plated.
